Steven Arnold
PRINCIPAL and DIRECTOR

Welcome to Peace Experiment, I am the founder and principal. I really enjoy teaching and have been recognised nationally and internationally. I am also a teacher trainer, lecturer, principal, teacher, consultant, guest speaker, parent, board and trustee member. With overseas experience in England, Brunei and Australia, I have has taught all levels of education from early years to tertiary.
I established New Zealand's first Montessori Secondary School in 2002 - Athena Montessori College (Wellington, NZ), then I became principal at Brisbane Montessori School (Queensland, AU), and have recently been the Senior Lecturer in Montessori Education at AUT University (Auckland, NZ).
I am a Montessori trained teacher in the following age groups: 0 - 3 (assistant cert); 3 - 6; 6 - 12; 12 - 15; 15 - 18yr olds (Diplomas)
I am a registered teacher, I love drama, travel, languages and learning
I also holds the following qualifications: MEd; Dip Tchng (NZ), PGDipEd, BA, BSc, LTCL, LSB, ASB, ANZDA (Accred), SCA (Accred)

I have my M.A., Teaching and Education Leadership, from Unitec and The Mind Lab, 2019. I gained my Ph.D., in Political Philosophy and Applied Ethics, from the University of Melbourne and the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics, 2012. I was awarded the Australian Postgraduate Award (four-year full fees and stipend scholarship), and I was ranked by examiners in the top 5% of received Ph.D. theses. My other qualifications are M.A., Philosophy (Distinction), Victoria University of Wellington, 2008. B.A. (Hons. 1st class), Philosophy, Victoria University of Wellington, 2006. P.G.Dip., English Literature, Victoria University of Wellington, 2017 (TBC). I love speaking Spanish, travel and visiting museums; and have completed Foreign Language (Distinction), Levels 6 and 7 (of 8), Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2008. I am a pretty good chef, so happy to help with any students wanting a tour of the kitchen!

I love working with young people and has been teaching for 9 years, from primary through to adult.
I studied in Wellington, and gained the Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching, Victoria University of Wellington, 2011, as well as my B.A., Art History and Religious Studies, Victoria University, Wellington 2009. I love languages, Trinity CertTESOL, English for Asia, Hong Kong 2016, and have completed my Foundation Certificate in Fashion Design, Massey University, Wellington 2005, I enjoyed my time at Thinking and Learning in the Maker-Centred Classroom, Programs in Professional Education, Harvard Graduate School of Education, 2017.
